N4/VROC problem

N4/VROC problem

Funny problem - my PC won't let me join multiplayer games through
either VROC (dumps me back to the VROC screen) or N4 (non-valid game
version apparently - using UK version with latest patch). The fact
that it is both suggests too me that it is some kind of Windows
problem - have tried re-installing 98 with no joy. Found some Win32
worm virus on my computer which I got rid of prior to re-installation
- anyone any ideas ?

PS using 56k modem and have tested several different connections/ISPs

Problem solved - went back to using original N4.exe version rather
than No-CD one and voila - all seems well (fingers crossed)

what a surprise

Nothing to cross your fingers about, you can not use a modified N4.exe to
play online

Have you tried to connect in GPL with a direct connect?  Meaning, bypass VROC
and enter the IP address in the game?
Also(I have to ask, sorry), are you selecting games that have passwords?  That
would give you the same response you've described...
