MSFFW questions

I really can't stand the pedals to my momo so I'm thinking of picking up a
Microsoft FF wheel. I hope someone can help me with a few questions.

1. Is there a performance hit when you go to the MSFFW? I thought I read
somewhere that you get a lower frame rate, but I'm not sure if this is true.

2. Does it have trouble centering?

3. Does it work well with F12002?

Thanks

1.  None that I can detect.  Some say there is a few fps hit, but I never
noticed it much.
2.  Not that I've detected.
3.  No problems here at all.

For the money, IMHO the MSFFW is the best bang for the buck out there.  Mine
is over two years old now, and still has yet to give a moments trouble.

If you buy used, avoid the gameport version like the plague.  The gameport
version of about any game controller is poorly supported in 2K/XP.

true.

I think it's true, but you might have to have a quite slow PC for it to be a
problem. I have only used my new MOMO for about an hour and have not
compared FPS. But the MOMO feels like a far better wheel then the MS, and
here in Norway there is no big price difference between the two. There is
also some kind of "bug" with force feedback being very weak on W2k/XP with
the MS wheel. This is no problem in GPL where you can adjust over a wide
range, but with say NFS PU... (blush) you have to set everything to full but
still don't feel much.

What you SHOULD do :) is buy a non FF MS wheel (same pedals) and adapt the
pedals to your MOMO wheel. I have just made an adapter for this, and if you
want one I can sell you one. If you know how to use your soldering iron, you
could make your own adapter or simply merge the MS pedals into the MOMO
wiring.
The post "MOMO Wheel - MS Pedals" dated 2.10 explains how the MOMO is wired.

Cheers,

Jone.

The wheel on the Momo is better, but the Momo pedals ruin the whole thing.

Yes they do, but it looks like most people think the better wheel is more
important than the bad pedals.
You still have a MOMO laying around? Or was it "the other Larry" that had
one? Anyway, you can easily use the MS pedals with the MOMO if you want to.
You can se pictures of my first adapter here (if you log in):

Yep, that's me.

Unfortunately, I don't read Norwegian :)

If my Wheel actually starts giving me any trouble, I break out that Momo and
give all this a try.
