Dear All,

Thank you for your interest in Microprose's products,
at present we are suffering from financial
difficulties, due to the AI difficulties we are
re-writing most of the code for Grand Prix 2.

We are at present discussing our situation with a
sponser who could possibly save us.

So until our deal is finalised we will not be
releasing Grand Prix 2 in the near future.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Geoff Crammond.

P.S. Our present situation will not affect the sale
of any other Microprose product, or support.

GRAN PRIX 2 has officially beed cancelled by
joint agreement between Spectrum HoloByte-
MicroProse and Geoff Crammond.

While this is regretable we at Spectrum HoloByte
feel that due to the lateness of the project we
would be providing a dis-service to our investors,
stockholders and customers by continuing a future
release of GP2.

Current plans going forward call for the game
to be picked up for future release by Electronic
Arts.

Steve Race
CEO Spectrum HoloByte

As if we care ... there's no other Microprose driving product that
isn't a piece of crap!

If this post is true, this is a major blow to Microprose's
credibility. You don't promise your customers the greatest game ever,
lying about release date after release date, and then just cancel it
because it's going to take a little more time and money. I think it
will be a very long time before I even consider buying another
Microprose product.

I just checked out the message board....
There is no way in hell these post could be true. There is so much BS
flying there, I had to wear a yellow slicker.

Its my experience that CEO's don't usually make major annoucements via
a message board. When I see a press release on something more
official, I'll believe it.

The game will be here when it gets here

After years of stockmarket investing and reading  news releases by
hundreds of companies that's the first time I've heard of a company
saying anything like that especially on a bb.  As I read between the
lines I noticed a lot of little spaces in the story  which I assume are
spaces for the BS.  I wonder how  SH/MP will react to this little piece
of ficticious reporting????

WHAT!!!!!!  Say it ain't so.  This can't be happening.  Oh, no the searing
bright white light.  AAAGH!!!

Oh, well I've kind of begun to expect this from SH/Microprose.

Hey, there are some idiots who mess around at that message board. Some
days ago someone posted a message with Microprose's signature stating
that Geoff Crammond has had a lethal car crash ... Spectrum-Holobyte
found a lot off b*llsh*t-messages and deleted them. Don't give a damn on
the reliability of this message.

Stay tuned

Microprose ***ed up their credibility the instant they decided to
release "Virtual Karts" -- it's a pile of shite.  The flies won't even
touch it.

Confirmed : This *is* a wind-up.  The guy who posted this has now posted an explanation of why he did it, and calls himself 'Imposter Geoff Crammond'.

Be patient.

According to the Microprose Forum on Compuserve, a number of the reps
and Customer Support staff have
been.......finished/fired/raped/pillaged?!!!.   There was no mention
of redudency or financial problems, but a shake up by Spectrum
Holobyte.

Make up your own minds!

No explanation needed, it's perfectly obvious why he did it: he's an
***.

<I've cut the rest of the previous mail for bandwidth sake, but you
should know what the original post was about : F1GP2 should be
overdelayed>

That's total bullshit. As the editor of a french PC magazine, i've
contacted officials from Spectrum Holobyte who were as surprised as I
was. This is a complete fake, F1GP2 will be released in france by the
end of may because the coders do have some problems with the driver's
AI. But it will (or should) be delivered in time. The project is still
on the move and the previous post can be considered as a total fake.
Neither Steve Race or Geoff Crammond did ever wrote such kinda stuff.
If they did, they would have made an official press release before
all.
Don't believe in everything that you read on the net. If this was a
1st april joke, it's not a funny one for F1 ***s. At the moment,
the game is almost finished (we've got a kinda beta version). Be
prepared, the race starts by the end of may (hopefully).

Yours,

Guillaume
Editor of PC Player / France.

True,
I am taking the necessary steps to remove all those bogus messages.
Both statements posted are not true. If we have a message to publish
from our CEO, it will most likely go through a press release not on an
on-line message board. Saty tuned for any GP2 news when I get them.
