That's exactly what I did with Grand Prix Manager ! I took it back to
the shop and swapped it for another game (11th Hour, which turned out
to be utter ***too !). Electronics Boutique (formerly Future Zone
over here) have a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you buy
anything from them and decide you don't like it, take it back within
10 days and they'll refund your money ! No - I couldn't believe it
when I found out about it either :) So if you fancy trying a
Playstation for a week or so.... (don't laugh - this has happened in
at least one of their stores !). Most of the larger retailers will be
happy to exchange software these days - getting a refund is another
matter, though. And if you bought the software from a small one-shop
retailer, forget it !

Of course, Geoff won't let us down - will he ?

Spring in the northern or southern hemisphere? and....we have a "spring"
every year. Included year 2099!

Egghead Software used to have the same policy, but they seem to have become
more anal-retentive lately.  The last time I tried to return a program I got a
MAJOR hassle over it.

I am NOT paranoid.  And why are you always watching me?!?

>Fair enough, but I'd like an explanation of why the game was reviewed in
>at least two UK magazines if it's "still in development".

Most magazines get a "sneak peek" of our games during development. I'm
not sure if a magazine published the story about GP2 as a finished
product, if they did then maybe they anticipated the product to be out
by the time their publication went to press. Again I say MAYBE because
I don't know what the magazines are doing with their reviews recently.

Another factor is that the UK magazines' access to game previews about
GP2 is easier than the US since the game is being developed in the UK.

Again, I have not seen the GP2 reviews in the UK magazines, If you can
point out to me which magazines we're talking about, I will try to get
them here. Thanks!

We're talking "Edge" and "PC Gamer", both from Future Publishing.
(Future being the operative word here.)

No, these were reviews, purporting to be looking at the genuine article.
It's clearly a competitive market in the magazine stakes, but my opinion
- and not just mine I hope - of Future's impartiality has gone right
down the pan.

Nothing wrong with being biased - just don't make a secret of it. I
mean, in the UK we all know the Sun newspaper leans to the right. We all
know games mags pander to publishers but really, this takes the biscuit.
Perhaps under their masthead "PC Gamer" should state their bias and
note, "we write BS for a living".

(How odd. I'm not aggrieved the GP2 is delayed. I'm annoyed at the
duplicity of the publicity concerning it.)
