  What a hoot!  Just found a used version on Ebay.  First couple of stages
I've tried around Wales are fun.
  I've seen the Ralwiz program, but what numbers do you plug in to make the
physics more realistic?
  And I've searched gamecopyworld.com for a no_cd but all I've found are
patches for Rally Championship 2000 and 2002...which I assume are European
versions.  any clues?

patchstickygrass=0

patchdamages=50

patchbrakegrip=50

patchslidegrip=80

patchmaxdrawdistance=10

These settings turn off the sticky grass, so you do not suffer major
slowdowns when on the grass, they reduce the amount of damage done by 50%,
decrease the braking power by 50%, (so the car takes twice the distance to
stop) increases the cars sliding slightly, and reduces slightly the amount
of graphics drawn in the distance (to speed up the graphics frame rate).

  Thank you both very much...These narrow tracks are great...I'll see if I
can squeeze some tinkering time in between my gpl quests  :)  Too many
sims...too little time..

Once you get to the A8's you'll discover the real joys of RC :).  I
don't care if the physics are a bit off, blasting through some of the
monster stages, along wickedly narrow gravel lanes, with my Act-Labs
wheel cranked to 100% is some of the best fun I've had in any game of
any genre.
I'm firing up my *** PC to get my physics values (wish I could
credit the person who gave them to me):

fizpatch=1; physics switch
noautoneutral=1; dont engage neutral after crash
sensiblesaving=1; save between stages
patchgravity=98; set gravity to 98% of normal gravity
patchdamages=200; set damage to 2x normal damage
patchbrakegrip=50
patchaccelgrip=110
patchslidegrip=95
patchgriptarmac=93
patchgripgravel=80
patchgripmud=93
patchgripsnow=88
patchgripgrass=85
sparksmode=1; display yellow sparks
patchmaxdrawdistance=16; set objects drawing distance
nofmv=1; no intro Full Motion View
mergejoy=1; merge different input devices       ;
patchstickygrass=0    ; I assume 1 is normal 0 is no stickygrass

I may suck at GPL, but I unlocked the A8's the hard way ;)!

  Well hey, you answered my next question too...thanks...I hope....I have
two wheels, use the TM pedals with the LWFF wheel, M1RC didn't seem to see
the pedals on the TM so I'm hoping the mergejoy line will take care of
that...

Don't forget to patch this up to Patch 6. The patch can be found at
http://www.activescore.com/rally/rc.html among other places. You might even
want to join the ongoing rally at this site. It only takes a couple of hours
per month.

  Thanks Wayne for a great link.  They had a link to a site I had previously
bookmarked, http://www.rally2000.racesim.net/ but after I got on there a
couple of days ago...it seems down now...that's a shame cuz I 'thought' they
were working on a 2002 mod for RC.  That woulda been fun to check out.
  Anybody have a clue about the status of the rally 2000 website?

Yep - you have to have the latest patch (5.30? patch 6?) for this to
work, as well.  Just set up your wheel as player 1's steering control,
and the TM as player 2's brake/throttle and your should be good to go.
 Split axis works fine, too.

  no problem with split axis but every combination I tried last night was no
good, either the pedals worked and the wheel didn't or vice-versa.  However,
I'm assuming that was all for driver one.  I'll dig into driver #2
tonight...thanks again.
