Upgrade Question for GPL/WWII Fighters?

by Mark Lierman » Sat, 15 Jan 2000 04:00:00

First, here is my current set-up for GPL & WWII Fighters

Soyo 6BA+III

64meg Siemens PC100 CAS2 ram
Yamaha WF192XG Soundcard PCI
Elsa Victory II Banshee 16meg AGP
MagInnovision DJ702 17" Monitor
Accura ISDN TA via a Byterunner HighSpeed PCI port (230kbps with STAC)
CH Racing Wheel & Pedals via soundcard port

My question is this.  I have roughly $140 that I can spend on my pc and
was wondering about any opinions on my best upgrade path.

128meg of PC100 CAS2 Ram
  or
Voodoo3 3000 AGP card
  or
Voodoo3 2000 AGP & add'l 64meg PC100 CAS 2 Ram
  or
any other suggestions

I appreciate any opinions/suggestions

Regards
Mark L

Out of the list you gave, I'd say the Voodoo 3000 would give the biggest
boost, but maybe a new wheel would be a good choice.

Upgrade Question for GPL/WWII Fighters?

Definitely a voodoo3 - the 2000 version is a lot cheaper and only marginally
slower. I went from 64 to 128mb ram and no difference - I have 300a at 450
too. Are the pedals that came with the wheel - the CH Pedals talked about -
or inferior ones - I had an idea the CH Racing System did not use the CH
rudder Pedals - if not - suggest you get those instead of buying more ram.
