200mmx, 64ram,8meg thriller. 800x600,  with 5 8 cars and only track
texture, groove, car textures on with just cars in the mirrors I was
getting 10-15 at the start 20-25 in traffic and 30+ by myself. It didn't
look that great but it was driveable. The biggest power sucker is ai cars,
# of sounds, detail bias and effects in that order. So I just got done
driving my new celeron 300a and 128meg pc100 ram system and WOW, much
better. With all graphics on and 10 ai cars I get 20-25fps at the start,
25-30 in traffic and 35+ alone. Looks so much better and drives better with
the higher frame rates. I plan to overclock it to 350,400,450 which should
be awesome. Btw with all 19 ai cars it is still driveable but slow at the
start and about 20-25fps with a car or two around later in the race. The
only drawback is I was expecting to be able to overclock to 350,400,450
with a 100 mhz bus but the Abit bx6/bh6 's don't support a 100 mhz bus with
a celeron and when forced to run that way is crashing. Your advice
appreciated. John

The BH6 most certainly does support running a Celeron 300a at 100MHz
FSB.  Maybe you need to increase the CPU core voltage above the default
2.0V to keep it from crashing.  Try 2.1V to begin with.  Also, a burnin
at 300MHz before attempting overclocking to 450 seems to help some have
more success.

For the BX6, you have to go to Abit's site and download the new bios for it
to recognize the 300a.
Not sure about the BH6.

The BH-6 has the "L" bios and doesn't need the bios flashed.

John, my Abit BH6 runs my Celery 300A at 450(100) just fine.  Huh.
All I did was pick the 450(100) setting, didn't change anything else,
didn't get into custom multipliers (I gather the C300A is locked at
4.5 anyway).  I hate to say it, but maybe try a different SDRAM
module? Even an old 32MB or whatever you have laying around (BTW, I'm
using an old-ish 10ns 64MB module).
