GP3 Wishlist?

GP3 Wishlist?

Ok, gp3 is rumoured to be ready for release around early 1998?

That should mean it is still being developed, which should also mean there
is still time to make changes to it?

So if we put forward our lists of what we (Auto Sim & F1GP1 & F1GP2
players) want in gp3, someone, somewhere, just might be listening, and we
might just get some of the things we are asking for?

So I'll start the ball rolling......

I would like to see the following improvements (not necessarily in this
order?)

1) Variable weather options (during all types of driving, practise,
qualifying, racing).

2) Ability to select different tyres (and tyre pressures).

3) Realistic car performance (based on chassis, engine, tyres, etc).

4) Realistic driver performance (based on experience & personality of
driver)

5) Network option (without performance drop).

6) Improved linked game performance (null modem or serial cable or modem
link).

7) Improved graphic options & 3D support (3Dfx, etc).

8) Improved sound options (Ability to hear other cars, commentary & pit
radio sounds, with the option to turn off).

9) Improved track details (including track falls and rises, and new track
layouts).

10) A track editor.

11) Improved car physics (ability to flip the cars).

I'm sure you may have a few other things you want included? post your list
here, and anywhere else you may think appropriate? (Microprose website?)
And who knows? it might be included in the actual game (but its just as
likely that it might not!!!!!)

It wouldn't be very realistic if you can see the car next to you. And the
real guys don't usually turn and look. They just listen to the engine noise
from the other car

I agree on all these points and want to add a general thing: Better design
of the menu-structure. E.g.: It's a bit annoying to leave the racing
environment just to adjust your controller settings.

If all points mentioned above would be included in GP3 I think there's no
discussion about what's the best racing-sim around!

BTW: Where does the early-98-release-of-GP3 rumour originate from?

Tom, do not think I would like to be driving on the same
motorway/intersection as you :-))

I personally think it was a good wish Richard.  The real drivers do move
their heads. I have been to many Grand Prixs and seen them do it.

U forget Ubisoft F1. If the car's handling is anything like the graphic
detail then it IS the greatest sim ever. And it runs with a huge frame-rate
(30-40fps) on a fairly standard computer, (p166 32mb RAM etc).
Unfortunately, u have to have a 3d grafix card to run it at all, but it
would be worth it. Try <www.f1racingsim.com> for demos and screenshots.
Looks awesome, but i don't have a 3d grafics card so i don't know if it is
or not.

Peter,

Forget all the bells and whistles, give me a game with 50 frames per second on
a mid range machine, say Pentium 166 with 3D graphics card.  That alone will
transform the game.  It will be really fun to play GP2 in a few years on my
AMD K-9 2000MHz!  I hope GP3 does not follow the Microsoft software plan where
every release gets bigger, slower and buggier.

Keith.

I tried Ubi F1 demo. though, I think there are too funny cartoon. Odd sky
and surroundings, Spaceship like dashboard. A little bit weak head AI cars.

Yes, high frame rate is really nice to drive. I am crazy into Nascar2 now,
but
it'sframe rate is about 19fps on my MMXPentium200.
I have more anticipation for GP3 with 3Dfx support.

The (UK) Nov 1997 issue of PC Zone has a list of expected release dates
for games every month.
This month it lists F1GP3 as having an expected release date of Feb 1998
(Unconfirmed though?)

There have also been a couple of similar mentions in PC Gamer magazine
over the last couple of months?

Peter,

At this time neither MicroProse or Geoff Crammond have made any indication
that a sequel to GP2 will be made.  Bear in mind that F1GP and GP2 both
took about 3 years each to develop.  Any information on any new products
under development will be indicated by a press release on our WWW site.

Thank you.

Mark,

What you should have said is "At this time neither MicroProse or Geoff
Crammond have CONFIRMED...." because Geoff "indicated" immediately
after the release of GP2 that a sequel was on the cards.

That apart, it's pretty bad to quosh even people who are simply
tossing ideas around. Who knows, maybe Microsoft will see this and,
realising the HUGE potential, offer Geoff the earth in order to create
the perfect F1 sim to add to their growing portfolio?

Cheers!
John
