V3 question

Just installed my v3 3000.
Strange thing happens now.
When I open GPl the startup screen and all menus are much
smaller (about 1/3 screen)
However when I go to drive, the screen is regular size.

Anyone else have this happen to them.

BTW running at 1024x768 at 36 solid on my 300a o/c to 374
but not at start of Monaco unfortunately.
tried 1200 x 960 and I can't see frame rate and view is
altered.

Thanks

tony

Tony...

It's sounds like you have George Smiley's excellent GPL Voodoo Graphics
Glide2x Wrapper (Glide2x.DLL, ~84kB) in your GPL folder. Not to be confused
with the "real" Glide2x.DLL (3dfx Interactive, Inc. Glide DLL, ~176kB) that
normally resides in the Windows system folder, George's DLL intercepts GPL's
calls to functions in the "real" Glide DLL in order to, among other things,
prevent GPL from changing screen resolutions between the menus and the
***pit view. George's analysis concluded that many of the Voodoo's
texture-related problems in GPL were precipitated by resolution changes and
the excellent results achieved with his wrapper certainly bear that out.

If the small menus are a problem for you, an alternative appears to be
limiting texture memory. There are a couple of alternative approaches to
doing that which have been widely discussed here on RAS. In short, one is a
batch file approach and the other involves editing the Registry directly. If
you choose to go with one of these alternatives, you'll need to move
George's wrapper out of the GPL folder.

One precautionary note about the Registry approach: If you limit texture
memory with a Registry change, that change will be wiped out if you ever
open the 3dfx Tweaks tab in the Display Properties Control Panel and then
click OK, even if you made no changes in the Tweaks tab. When this happens,
the GPL texture problems will reappear. So be sure to click Cancel if you're
just looking at the Tweaks tab.

Hope this helps! The Voodoo3 is a real treat when you've resolved these
issues!

Jack thanks, it would have helped if I read the read me file for the wrapper.
It works fine and I can live with the small menu.

The card is a treat for sure.
