AWE64/ACM Gamecard Question

by Scott R. Lun » Tue, 02 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hope someone can help me here.  I have an AWE64 Value soundcard and
I want to put my ACM gamecard back in.  I know how to disable the AWE64
joystick port in Win95, but what do I do for DOS?  I'm afraid that I'm
going to have a conflict with the ACM card in DOS unless I find a way of
disabling it first.
Someone had told me a while back that I could disable it with the
DOS software, but so far this has me stumped.  I wish Creative had
better directions with their hardware than this.  Thanks in advance.

If you go in thru the control panel and remove the AWE64 drivers then
anything in DOS is also disabled.

I have the AWE 64 and ACM in my system.  It seems that, at least in my case,
that the ACM works fine under DOS doing nothing more than disabling the
joystick port in Window95.

Thrustmaster has a section on disabling the joystick port on soundcards.
Check Method 3 for instructions on doing it in DOS and the software you
may need to do it.

Here's the URL http://www.thrustmaster.com/support/pnp.htm

You don't need to disable the gameport on the soundcard in DOS.The ACM card
works fine.

Check out the thrustmaster web site, under support they had some fixes
there that might help you.  I just bought an ACM and got it set up using one
of the techniques they had listed, I also use the AWE64 value.
