Copy Cars from N4 to N2002?

Hi All,
    I'm having trouble getting my N4 #40, 8 and 2 cars into N2002.  They
appear in the list of drivers but the cars do not show in the box or on the
track.  Is it something to do with incompatible pallettes between the two or
something else?  Or does anyone have the missing cars up yet for N2002?
Yes, I know it just came out, but I'm a detail nut!  Thanks :)

The .CAR files are not really compatible between versions.  You'd need
to export the pit crew skins from the N4 cars, create new cars in the
NR2002 Opponent Manager, and then import the pit crew skins into NR2002
through the paint shop.  The car skins are no longer using the same
template, so there is no direct way to re-use them in NR2002 without a
lot of cutting and pasting in an external paint program even then it's
probably not going to be worth the effort.

What posessed the developers to change the .CAR format?  Some
order of magnatude improvement in gameplay?  All it resulted in is
a big hassle that I cannot use my existing cars.  Not a real incentive
to purchase the upgrade.

If thought out properly, there should have been included a migration
utility to import older cars into the newer format.

Sure take your custom paint job and have a program figure out just what
pixels need to be filled in to fill up the larger car texture....If your
lucky the wheel will show up on the hood.  if not...might be virtually
uncomfortable driving..:)
I have been racing patched versions of the Papyrus sims for years, my N2
car didn't follow through to N99.  Our N99 truck didn't make it to the N3
touring car patch.  Our N3 car didn't transfer to N4.  And durn-it....n4 is
different than NR 2002.   Wouldn't it be nice if we still had those fuzzy
blocks they called cars in N1???

AM, think about the changes to improve the car shape(3do), and the new texture mappings(mips) that
have to be done and you'll see that making a "conversion" program would virtually be impossible.
Just ask any of the car/track editor guys how hard it would be.
