Logitech Momo-Where to buy in U.S. Midwest?

by Bill Met » Thu, 27 Jun 2002 01:54:36

Well gang, I went to pick up a Logitech Momo wheel.  The funny thing
was...I couldn't find one anywhere!

I checked three Best Buy's, two Circuit Cities, Sears, and CompUSA.  There
was one display unit at one Best Buy.  That was it.  Micro Center, EB and
Babbages don't  even list the Momo on their Web sites so I doubt they
carry them in the stores.  As a matter of fact, Best Buy's site says the
Momo shouldn't even be available in stores.

So, has anybody in the U.S. Midwest purchased a Momo from a regular retail
store?  I actually wouldn't mind spending the money for an extended
warranty so I'm trying to avoid mail order if I can.  I'm in the Chicago
area if it makes any difference.

TIA,
Bill

Ordered mine from newegg.com at that time they were $50 cheaper than Best
Buy and would bet they are lower yet. I wouldn't mess with an extened
warranty. As typical with computer parts the MOMO probably won't be around
in the 4 years to make a claim on it.

Don't know if you're interested in a refurb, but you can get one for $90
here:
http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/wheels.html

Formula Force (old style) available for $50, Formula Force GP for $35.

It depends on the cost...

When I bought my MSFFW, the ESP was $9.95 for 2 (or maybe 3) years.

It breaks, I take it back to the store, hand it to them, and they hand me a
new box.

I'll buy THAT for $10 :)

Some of Best Buy's warranties aren't bad.  You just have to evaluate each
one individually.

I've had their controller warranty before, and it paid off big.

I wouldn't even want to _think_ about having to get one fixed through
Microsoft.

Thats all well and good if they have one. My point is that since he is
having such a hard time even finding one what good is it gonna do him to
'hand" it to him if they don't have anything to give him in return? It would
end up being a "will have to send it in and get it fixed" type of deal. And
don't even get me started on get things fixed thru a store like best buy.

MadDAWG,

Thanks for recommending New Egg in your previous post.  Considering the
amount of components I've ordered from them in the past I'm suprised I
didn't think of them for the Momo.  After reading the T&C of Best Buy's
"replacement plan" and looking at New Egg's cheaper price, I went ahead
and ordered from New Egg.  Matter of fact, it shipped yesterday afternoon
so there's a small chance I may have it by the weekend.  DK pots and a
Rockfire adapter for my pedals are on on their way from TE as well.
Christmas in June!

I'm still trying to make up my mind what to do for pedals, besides sufering
with the current ones. My biggest "problem" is I don't want another set of
pedals under my desk. I'm about out of room now.

Buy.com has MOMO's in their clearance section right now for $90.  Can't beat
that price...

Thanks Mark,  I have been FFless for several months...the pieces of my old
LWFF just won't go back together the same way they came out.

buy.

LOL, I just got my 19" monitor back (brand new one) after 5 months of
dealing with, "We can't find anything wrong with it", "He's out to lunch",
"It's his day off" etc. But after 2 days of some *** and nice phone calls,
whaalowlaa, 1 week later brand new (exact replacement) monitor hits my
doorstep via UPS. It does pay to "Open a Can O'WhoopAss" on someone, heh.
Didn't even have to call BestBuy.
