Brakes in GP2

Hi there,

I now have GP2 for three days and I enjoyed every minute of it....well
not actually EVERY minute....there's one thing that keeps frustrating me
and that is the braking of my car.

When I brake at the points the CC are braking, I keep getting locked
wheels almost everywere. This results in very quickly worn of tyres, and
is causing me some trouble because of the loss of grip during the races.
When I'm braking a bit earlier, not full brakes, but a bit gentlier, the
problem almost dissapears, but then the CC just take me over on the
inside. I tried different kinds of braking balances, but the wheel
locking just stays. What can I do about it? Might it have anything to do
with me using a keyboard instead of an analog input device ?
Thanks in advance.

See Ya, Eddy

U bet cause the keyboard is full on when u hit the key. On high downforce
cars the drivers start *** the brakes and gradually lift off to
counteract the lack of downforce as the car slows.

I use a joystick, and brake by pulling back on the stick. This means I
can enter most corners and brake with the CCs without getting lockup (on
Semi-Pro level). Try a joystick or pedals and your problem will disappear
- you need analogue throttle and brakes to get good car control - using
the keyboard I was always spinning the rear wheels under acceleration and
locking the fronts under braking.

Maybe you should try to press the brake key and just before it locks the
wheels, start pulsing them, instead of fully pressing them. That might
avoid the locking with a keyboard.

I think it probably is keyboard braking.  With an anologue controller
you can release brake sa little as you slow down to counter a loss of
downforce.  You could try adding more downforce at the point where the
wheels sre locking i.e. more wing, lower rideheight, softer springs,
softer antiroll bars.
