GPL and DirectX 6,0 - slower???

Hi all,

when istalling a new game, my directx 5 was upgraded to 6.
After this GPL seems to have about 8 fps less. I cannot doublecheck
this, because I cannot get back to Directx5.

Anybody knows how to uninstall Directx?

BTW: Although the frame-rate has decreased, the graphic-flow seems to
be smoother. Is that possible?
