Does anyone has ever seen/played this game? Any opinions?
Whatever input will be appreciated, before I spent MY $$$ on it; I've done
it before with Al Unser Jr. Arcade Racing.

Hi Ed!

I was thrilled at first - the graphics and sounds are excellent, but it is way
too easy to drive. You cannot crash; a wild slide into the trees only results
in crunch-noises. If you try *really* hard, you can roll the car. I got tired
of it pretty fast. The main problems, as I see it are;

-The stages are way too fast. Most of the stages are  wide roads.
-There are no real corners. You just slide the car around at 120MPH.
-A few annoying effects; The drivers hands on the steering wheel bugs me
You can hear the gear selector and wipers over a screaming engine
The engines sound like they only rev to 4000 rpm
The AI cars are turning impossible stage times
The cars have no "feel". F.e The front wheel drive cars are not
understeering while on full power.

All in all, it is a good arcade game, but no simulator.

I enjoy RAC.  The graphics are good, the sound good, and the weather
effects are good as are the different stage effects such as camber, track
surfaces etc..

I have no problem posting competitive times, sure, the maximum speeds may
be a little unrealistic (you can top 160mph), but as each car does this,
it doesn't matter.

I paid UKP 20 for my original copy, and think it is money well spent.
After all I paid the same for Screamer, and I don't like that at all...

As for S2 I prefer RAC as S2 is just powerslides...

You can change the width of the roads to suit yourself. I like to boom
around on realistic thin ones!

You haven't played it very long surely?

Yeah, theyre a bit cheesy

You can on real in car footage [and BTW the in car camera looks a lot
like real RAC footage!]

True...

I dunno, theyre not that fast.

Yeah! Shame that, theres no sense of presence in the car. And its a
real problem to get the game working with a T2 [you need a special
game card]

Yeah, it's OK

I've been playing the demo for a while and has anyone taken a good
look at those damn hands?

Since when do rally drivers race wearing 'puffa' artic/oven gloves and
a cheap polyester mix sweater? ;-)

Com 'on guys, details, details! The proper gloves would of cost no
more than 20 quid!

Cheers

My T2 worked OK under Win 95 - no special card (Onboard S/B Vibra 16 in
Intel Endeavour mboard). What's the problem ? The game is still rapidly
boring. Hope Sega is better.

Erm, I think it's just SB & compatible sound cards that the game has a
bit of trouble with.

provide any demos or downloads until sometime in Jan 97 :( Slack

Mine was on a mag cover CD about a month ago. Needless to say it's
gone missing and the mags in the office somewhere so I've no idea
which on it was. Probably PC Home, PC Directs or PC Gamer, around
the OCT/NOV issue.

This is the best game I've never played!

Aggghhh!
I somehow downloaded the huge demo, I really like playing the one
track demo, I have mailed Europress and posted stuff on how I could
buy this game in the US. No Luck.
What is the deal here?
I think this game is super cool, it's a good way to loosen up after
hours of ICR2 technical stuff. It looks like a riot, but I can't
figure out how to order it, etc.
Europress has ignored me. (Well, they sent me a catalog, but no
ordering info.)

This game is great, I highly reccomend it,
If you can actually play it that is. (in the US)

Hey Robert,

To heck with RAC rally.  What I really want to know is-
Have you got Ernie and Dale signed long-term?  And what about replacing
Larry McReynolds?  :)

Any game where you can't physically run off the road or damage your car
when you ROLL it is not a simulator in my mind.

Mind you the Cosworth Escort RS is a pretty cool car.

Hi,

This is the information I received from Europress when they had their
BBS on their web page about ordering RAC Rally Championship:

Rally is not yet available in the US. To order the SW from Europress it
will cost 39.99 and p&p 10.00. The best way to order is by credit card
on the phone number of +44 (0) 1625 859333.

Also, I just recently looked at their web page and *** Interactive
Entertainment is listed as the US distributor for Rally Championship.
The web page is dated 12/27/96.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you find it.

Oh yeah, thanks a lot. Now every time I play it I roll about laughing!
They really ARE oven gloves!!!
