Wingman Formula centering tip

Just thought I'd let any Logitech pilots out there in on a little discovery.
You may have noticed the wheel has a seemingly erratic tendency to become
skewed.  This is not erratic at all, but is caused by a routine in the driver
code, originally intended to solve the problem of drifting data from joysticks.
It automatically resets its center whenever it's left idle for 10 seconds,
even when you're not in a calibration menu.  When applied to wheels however, it
can be a problem as they don't have a center detent.  Leave it turned a bit,
and when you go back to driving, it's crooked.  The simple solution is to leave
the wheel straight when you're not driving, or for 10 seconds before you do
(and also in calibration after centering the wheel; watch the magic numbers
change!).  The better solution is to change the driver code.  And that's what
Logitech are doing in the next version of their Wingman software, so this item
will soon be joining the Dodo bird in extinction-land.  Keep an eye out for the
new goodies at http://www.racesimcentral.net/.
