I mentioned earlier in another thread about Honda models and the Lotus 49
that I'd put something together a year ago.  Pix and a bit of info is
available at the URL below if anyone's interested........

Just go to the bottom of the page to "A model of the Lotus 49....."

Did you make this one?? Congrats! Wouldn't have done a lot better than this
one, especially with that japanese map. <G>
Man, you have way too much free time on your hands!

Very nice work, Bruce.
So, if you sold one, how much would it go for?

Obviously not as superb as Bruce's, but a nice assembled 1/18 scale
1967 Jim Clark Lotus 49 is available from www.ewacars.com,
made by "Quartzo" ($30US + shipping).  Wish they had an Eagle too.

Ah...that's right, it was Mr. Ace who was mentioning models!
Thanks, Ace......it does give me a great sense of achievement each time I
look at it but I'd think twice before doing it again!  I'll stick to the
more conventional Tamiya's, I think.

Yep that's the one I've got. Not so detailed (it falls apart when I touch
it) but it still looks great.

Same price as what I paid for it two years ago ....AUS$200.
I'm not interested in profiting from it.

Thanks Warren.......I agree, it's a nice model.
I'd love to see Tamiya, Fujimi or Hasegawa produce a range of the 1960s
cars.  They seem to have stuck with the 1.5 litre Honda and the RA273 (made
in Japan) Honda.  Oddly enough, whilst they produced a model of the only
Japanese designed and manufactured car (the RA272 of 1965) to win a F1 GP,
they have NOT seen fit to issue a copy, in any scale, of the RA300, which
won at Monza in '67.

Of course, Tamiya have also produced that beautiful Lotus 25 but wouldn't it
be nice to see a Porsche, Ferrari 156, Brabham-Climax as well?  How about,
from the early 3-litre era, a model of the Eagle-Weslake, the
Cooper-Maserati, the Brabham-Repco, the hulking BRM with H-16 and the
Ferrari 312?

A couple of years ago, when searching for manufacturers of such kits, I made
some enquiries through a contact in Japan and he came back with the advice
that Honda did not give permission for a model of the RA300 because the car
was neither designed nor manufactured by Honda. Whether this is true or not
I have no idea but I suppose it makes sense.

At least I'm not alone wanting an Eagle. Nobody seems to do 'em though, and
it looks like I may end up building from scratch. (Nightmare!)
