ICR2 > N2 convt. texture swap question check this out

good day

I am currently attempting to change the asphalt textures in the ICR2
tracks after they have been converted to N2.  Longbch is the only one I
have been working on as of yet

first I used the dat file from ICR2 that has the asphalt texture from
ICR2 MIS in it.
it came out blue which is understandable, we all know thats what happens

second I attempted to put the asphalt texture from N2 MIS into the N2
Long Beach.  uppon doing this I ran into something strange.  the N2 MIS
texture after I unpacked it was a asphalt.mi4.  Thats right, 4 bit.
however anyone could see that in the game its actually a 16 bit file.
when I put the file in to the N2 Long Beach sure enough it appeared as
the old 4 bit, not the 16 bit that the N2 MIS clearly has.

I figure that I can swap textures in ICR2 easy, so there has to be a way
to do it in N2.

p.s. I cheched THE PITS site and they still have the 4 bit textures on
the ICR2 converts screen shots so they either haven't figured this out
yet or they haven't tried it.

ok so I tried to swap both the asphault files   mi4 and mip
the track turned out blue, although the improved texture did get swaped

I have no idea how to correct this blue stuff
any ideas?

p.s. I downloaded the sim project Dave Noonan file for correcting the
blue track but that dosen't seen to be much help unless u r using the N1
to ICR2 track converter

There are no 16-bit files in N2.  All are a combination of 4 and 8-bit
graphics.  The 8-bit ones use the MIP extention.

Cheers!
