nascar wheel problems / gp2

I just purchased a Thrustmaster Nascar wheel and have a few problems with
it.

First, the wheel will only work properly, in your calibration and test
program, if I set the switch to separate.  No matter what I do, when I
select combined the control panel always says not connected.  This happens
even if I reboot, power off, etc.

Also, I have been unable to use the wheel mounted buttons with grand prix 2.
This greatly improves the game, as you do not have to take your hands off of
the wheel to shift.

Lastly, the brake spring is so hard to press, I got cramps just playing for
a few minutes.  Is there any way to decrease the tension ?

When you have the pedals switched to combined, look at the properties in
the control panel for the NASCAR Pro.  Maker sure that none of the boxes
are checked.  Also make sure that the 4-buttons radio button is marked.

Is this in DOS or Win95?  If in the latter check the properties under
the control panel and make sure you have 4 buttons selected.  Do the
buttons work when you "test" them in control panel?  Did you calibrate
and setup your wheel in GP2 as control-driven?

It does sound a little tight, but it should loosen up with use.

Don't worry, the brake pedal will lighten when one of the springs brake in
about 3-4 weeks. Same will happen to accelarator springs too, of course :->

If your TM pro panel is set correctly and your buttons still do not work in
test, then a likely cause is that the wire going through the shaft is broke
from bending and remedy for that requires rewiring and/or resoldiering
(which, believe me, is not fun), or returning the wheels.
