Papyrus:

I have  read your press releases on NASCAR 2003FE!

In the past you have had a deterent EULA.TXT statements that more or less prohibitive
what we did anyways and that is developing 3rd party add-ons.  Now you have stated
that your hope for NASCAR 2003FE is that we continue this.

My question is a simple one!  What will you do to help us do this.  Sure
we can paint new car sets each year.  But the real add-ons have been tracks and the modifications
of items and objects in the car.   Will you provide us with any of the following?

1).    Track Builder
2).    Chassis Builder
3).    Physics Engine Modifications
4).    Editing of Wheels, Dashboards, Views
5).    Sounds
6).    Etc. Etc. Etc.
7).    Multiplayer Arena Support

You all know what your gonna do to help us.  Well you do anything.  Will you delete that
Eula.txt that makes is against the sierra law of which gets done now.

Will the Multiplayer Arena support be continued.  Will we the existing arena be shut down.
Will we all end up at racing places like onlineracing.com or raceservers.net!

We know you will leave us with a great product.  Hopefully this last version will have the
physics engine implemented thats not upside down.  NASCAR teams get fined thousands of dollars
for illegally lowering the car.  But here the higher you raise the car the faster you go.
Need to that first. hehe

Ramble Off!  Lets here from you!  Thanks

PS. It has been a great time using and supporting your products.  Met lots of great people
and the social scene you have created is great..  Matter of fact I can honestly say that
I probably owe my stay at home, sleep and sell multi-million dollar auto parts business to your company. This all
evolved from my computer background, racing background and the merging on the internet
that lead me to a business opportunity..

Most certainly, How will they get the word out to us.. I dont think we
should have to
wait to get the support in a manual or a readme.txt.  If they want our
support its
timesto communicate with us.

Now why would they want to work with us now after 8 years of not! The
EULA.TXT
has existed that long..  Its simple future sales.   If they arent gonna be
around and
if they want to be selling NASCAR 2003FE 6 years from now.  What is gonna
make
that happen.  Its not gonna be them, its gonna be us.  If they want more
money and
sure viendi needs it now.  They need to reach out to us and at least tell us
some things.
Even if we dont get a track builder, they at least need to tell us how to
the formats
of replays, tracks, objects and compoents.  Sure we can crack all of this
with ease
but its time for them help us help them make money!

 Wishful thinking at least!

Papy may wish they can excise the EULA.  BUt do you think the
SIerra/Havas/Vivendi lawyers who carefully crafted, nurtured and revised
that document are going to stand still when Papy asks for it to be torn up?
Not a chance Don.  (it WAS a good thought tho.)

It's been well documented in interviews that Papy's tools for creating
tracks are more comlicated than those that have been put together by
the user community.  Give the game a couple months and we'll have the
same tools we have for GPL.

There are people modifying these things in N2002 and have been for
years in GPL.  Again, give N2003 a few months and modifying car shapes
will be documented.

As far as modifying physics goes, there are several issues involved
with that and I highly doubt anyone who has done work in that area
will divulge anything.  1. - There's the issue of cheating and 2.
Regardless of what ISI thinks, there's more to modelling the physics
of a car on a PC than plugging in a few numbers into a base engine.
Until we have supercomputers that can run all of the necessary
formulas in realtime (which aren't even available to F1 or NASCAR
teams) there's going to be a lot more to creating a physics model than
just feeding it a few parameters.  The formulas themselves, the
shortcuts Papy takes in order to make their simulations run in real
time at 30fps on a lowly sub-1gHz CPU, need to be rewritten.  Unless
they release the source code, that's not going to happen.

Again, people have been doing this.  Papy's file formats haven't
changed much in 10 years.

Probably the easiest mod to any Papy sim.

I didn't check to see what client you use, but the "=20" carriage
returns after every line kick ass.

Good suggestion.  Is the IP addy for the Sierra server held in an .ini
file?  If so I'm sure someone could work with Papy towards having
private Sierra-quality race lists available.  Would be a nice ability
to have, especially in terms of making the game future proof.
