I have a Diamond 12MB V2 too and experience no problem (anymore) with the latest
3dfx native drivers (glide v2.56).
I don't have any older glide driver installed locally in the GPL folder anymore.
I did experience freezes running GPL but solved it by installing an additional
(chassis)fan (costs: app. US$5) . Really it was a cooling problem!
I suspect the default 3dfx operates the card at a somewhat higher
clockfrequency which causes the lockup. The diamond shouldn't be overclocked,
leave it at the default 90MHz!
