Has anybody else noticed when you are in the pits you can hear the other
cars go by, but you cannot see them.  I hope that this is not just on my
computer.

Are you sure you're not talking about the cars out on the track?  You
cannot see them, but you can see the ones that are passing you on pit
lane.

This was the same in N1 and ICR2...It's not your computer.  :)

Of course you cannot see them. The cars you hear are on the track. There
is a wall between the pits & track.

I can explain why this is pretty simply. Drawing order.

When the viewpoint is on one side of the median pit wall (MPW), it
shows only cars on the same side of that pit wall. (Otherwise, you
could get into a situation where a car on the far side of the MPW
would be draw AFTER the MPW, causing a strange-looking drawing order
bug.)

Since for the most part you aren't concerned about cars in the pits
when you're on the track and vice versa, we judged this to be an
acceptable solution to the problem. If we make the drawing order
calculations too complicated, the game runs slowly on a given machine.
(Some already think it's too slow...) For the slight benefit of being
able to see cars on the opposite side of the MPW, we didn't think it
was worth making the game too slow to run on whatever machine is
currently "on the bubble."

However, if you select F10 (one of the arcade driving views) while in
the pits, you'll see the other cars race by out on the track.

God Bless,

Try using the F10 key to see you car from the outside while pitting.  You
will then be able to see the cars from that vantage point.  Otherwise the
wall will be in your way.

Limited experience with the Papy games?  Try F10, and you CAN see
over the walls - you just won't see the cars.  ~:)
