1) System specs. Anyone tried a -race- yet? 3 fps...
2) ***y annoying stepped engine sounds.
3) Ho-hum graphics. I prefer MGPRS or even F1RS. (Bloddy annoying
stepped engine sounds)
4) Physics. GPL may have spoiled me forever. Nothing feels as "honest"
as GPL. If I spin in GPL, I've earned it. Same for making it through a
corner. I worked for it. Canned spins and crashes abound in F1 2000, it
seems.
5) Tracks. Monza is -not- that narrow. Indianapolis has a steeper bank.
Come on guys, this is supposed to be a sim!

Anyway, nice try EA. It's close, but no prize. If it gets hacked a la
SCGT, it may end up being a fun diversion, but GPL is still providing me
with the only -racing- I'm getting so far. Come on Papy, -REV- that GPL
engine. I'll take three of them. Back to Snetterton...

The sounds at the start are very arcade like.  Generally the
sound is pretty weak.

I was enthusiastic about it this morning after spending all night downloading,
but after spending parts of the day at Monza, Indy, and Melbourne I can safely
say I'm getting rather tired of it. I still think it's about the best
contemporary F1 sim so far (except, maybe, GP2, which I've never been able to
get my hands on), but that's not really saying much. For me it always comes
back to three titles: GPL, N3, and NL, not necessarily in that order. No other
game comes close to the realism of these Papy titles (GPL, in particular, but
hopefully N4 will be on my list in the not too distant future).

Not to mention the AI! Half the field REGULARLY crashed out after the
first chicane in Monza!! These guys make the Psygnosis F1 AI look
smart. They're also completely unpredictable. Not as in the will he
block me or won't he but rather in the "what the hell is he doing on
the brakes in the middle of the main straight"?.

They've obviously "Americanised" F1 - and upped the crashing quota
slightly!!

The most common cause of retirement for the AI seems to be "Rear
Wing".

It's even worse: I've enabled the formation lap and guess what: Already 4
cars out before the start on this lap in Melbourne. This is ridiculous!

Well, back to the "Ring" I guess!

compare with my main gripe with GPL AI is that (if as normal :-) I'm
trailing in nearly 1 lap down I suddenly get a lotus all over my rear
wheels 'cos GPL AI refuses to slow down while on a cooldown lap while
returning to the pits :-)

Quote from soem NASCAR official on a documentary 2 or 3 years back "the
American public want *** so we have to give them crashes - the
challenges is to ensure no-one gets hurt"
