Is this true? I've looked on the Sierra site and have found no mwntion
of a patch to upgrade ICR2 "regular version" to the "rendition version".
I wish there was though.

As I understand it, you have to buy the "new" CART racing (rebadged
ICR2) in order to get the rendition version (unless you got it bundled
with your Rendition card, which I sadly haven't).

Can anyone else say whether or not this is true...???

There is a patch for the Rendition version (to fix some Cyrix problems
or something) which includes a new Rendition executable.  That, paired
with the microcode file from another Rendition game (VQuake for
example), is all that is needed to run ICR2 in Rendition mode.
Obviously you don't get the 16-bit enhanced tracks, but its better than
nothing.
