imho n1 is better than n2

imho n1 is better than n2

no mouse to contend with

more realistic play (car dynamics)

save game feature

displays larger view of cars and tracks

n2 tires look like whitewalls

some pavements are offwhite color when at real track they are dark gray or
black

only improvement in N2 is improved graphics which is offset by smaller
screen view

Too much horsepower is required to run the game

Disagreements with supporting statements are welcome.

Buy a Rendition video card and all your worries will go away.

I don't like the new menus either, the worst thing is the tiny arrow
buttons.  I also feel that setup options that were removed should have
been replaced with new "Nascar legal" options.  That would have required
reworking the physics model though.

I'm afraid I have to agree on this one.  N2 is not necessarily bad,
but I just find N1 more realistic.  The graphics in N2 are incredible
(I couldn't keep my eye off of Bobby Hamilton in my rear view, bravo
Papyrus), and the spotter (sounded just like my friend, who is my self
proclaimed crew cheif), but the game just doesn't have a realistic
feel for me.  I realise that it's a sim and can't be 100%, but there
were some things that I noted that seemed to be overcorrected from N1.
But, I'm not going to ***, because I'm happy to have a NASCAR sim
period.  So, for now, I'm going to stick with N1 for my ***
racing, and tinker with N2.

N2 is a great sim, but the sound in N1 is much, much better  imo

The chat mode is better in N1 but the AI cars are much more
aggrisive in N2 and I like that.

Have you tried going into the sound.DAT file and modifing the N2 sounds?

Nope I disagree completely. (Well, maybe I'll give you the
save games option.)

Beyond that I thing Nascar2 blow Nascar1 away in every way.

Wahhhh, what computer nowadays doesn't have a mouse?
And the N2 physics model is more realistic than N1.

:
: save game feature

True, but it is coming...

:
: displays larger view of cars and tracks
:

n2 is more realistic...

: n2 tires look like whitewalls
:

BULL!  The n2 tires look about 3 times as realistic.

: some pavements are offwhite color when at real track they are dark gray or

Such as?

: only improvement in N2 is improved graphics which is offset by smaller
: screen view
:

Not to mention the spotter, the new improved interfaces, the upcoming
NROS, network support, car sets, better paintkit, wheel spin, etc.

: Too much horsepower is required to run the game

Not with a $150 Rendition board.

:

I pretty much disagree with all of your points, you are more than welcome
to remain in the past and play by yourself, but for the rest of us, we
will enjoy the great progress.

To what? I don't have a WC car in my living room to record.
True, another gut in the shop is working on a Taurus with an exhaust
leak that sound pretty close, but I'm not going to take my computer to
work to record car sounds.
Hmm, a Cobra with Flowmasters would be pretty cool...

That would definitely affirm the computer geek stereotype, huh? Heh.

As sweet as they sound, its way too smooth, I think.
You need a ratty sound until about 4,000 RPM's. I agree that N1
captured that MUCH better. I was amazed when I first played it, and
heard that sound.

With a simple WAV file editor in Windows can change the tone
of the V8 engines in Nascar2. I change the AI cars and they
have a much deeper rumble now. I also change the tire squeal
to a deeper toned howl.
