TrackIR 3 or 4?

I was wondering if it's worth 80 dollars more for the version 4 of the
TrackIR. Are there enough improvements to make it worth the extra money?

Yes, it includes the Vector Expansion, which will give you 6dof in games
that support it, plus increased fov and resolution.

I have the TIR 3 Pro, and added the Vector Expansion shortly after it came
out.
If I were buying a new one today, it would certainly be the TIR4.

I already have the vector expansion with my TIR3 Pro.  Should I spend
the money on the TIR4? Is it worth another $180?

I have been debating the same thing.
Personally, I think if you have the money to burn and want the latest and
greatest, then sure - but, I doubt we would see 180 bucks worth of
improvement over what we have now, we would in effect be getting the higher
resolution and wider fov for the most part. I would also like the better
mounting clip for lcd monitors, as I have just recently purchased an LCD
monitor. The sticky tape keeps coming loose on mine every 2-3 days from the
tension of the legs.

Perhaps the TIR4 may seem smoother to us, but right now my TIR3 Pro seems
prettty darn smooth to me.

I will probably go ahead and order the TIR4, just to have it, but I won't be
expecting to see a major improvement over my TIR3 Pro for the money spent.

If one did not have a TIR of any sort right now, I would say without
hesitation go the TIR4.  If they have a TIR3 Pro and the Vector expansion, I
would not go into the TIR4 expecting a big difference, only if they are the
type that want the latest and greatest and don't mind spending the bucks...

Thanks Don.  I think I will wait a couple months and put TIR4 on my
b-day list then.  Hopefully my wife will get it for me :-)

TrackIR 3 or 4?

Does anyone know if Colin McRae 2005 supports TIR? I've seen a video of CMR4
with TiR3, but it's not mentioned in the literature for the game, not in
CMR2005.
