I read this info at http://www.racesimcentral.net/
"There have been some unforeseen issues do to the number of textures
in NASCAR and the limited texture memory on most 3Dfx based cards. Right now
there is no official release date for the project. There will be a press
release when the final date is solidified."

So are you saying that you refuse to play NASCAR 2 because it doesnt have 3dfx
support?  LAME!!!
Though I will admit 3dfx support would be cool, cant wait to see GPL in 3dfx

Why don't they release a version now and just have a Pure 3D(or other
6mb board) as a minimum.  I am sure that 4mb texture would be enough.  Then
they can release another patch later for the other Voodoo cards.

is a large number of people) get left out in the cold for a few more months.
Sounds like a great idea.

If they didn't increase the amount of textures it should work on Voodoo
like
it does on my Rendition, shouldn't it?? 2MB are 2MB, on both boards...

Sorry for the technical nature of this reply   :).
Nope!  The 3dfx chipset and the Rendition chipset utilize their onboard
memory in different ways...3dfx dedicates 2 megs for frame buffer and 2 megs for
textures(on 1st gen boards) and the Rendition...does it differently  :)

That was my guess, but I was hoping for an explanation.
You didn't deliver! ;^)

I don't think the Rendition uses main memory for textures, so where does
it hide the additional textures...??? 8^0

Arent enough hours in the day to play sims that arent 100%.....Nascar2
is good...but it isnt good enough for me. Given a choice between
playing F1RS and Nascar....ummm can you say EAU ROUGE...now if Nascar
would be Voodoo enabled then it might be alot more fun to run on my
166.

On another note...I dont believe Sierra...sorry but their credibility
with me after the excuses given with Red Baron2 is nil. And these
excuses revolved around the Voodoo patch or lack thereof.

The 3dfx TEN enabler is scheduled for release on 3/5/98.  The offline
version should be ready either at the same time or shortly afterwards.

Okay - NOW you shoud go out and order your 12mb voodoo2 cards...

GPL and N3 will support multiple resolutions, but the 3Dfx port of N2
will just be 640x480.

Thanks for the info....makes me wonder if I havent been incorrect all
along. Maybe the reason y'all held back was making sure it would run on
the "backward compatible" Voodoo 2....good idea. No need to join some of
the other developers running around trying to figure out whats broke.

Well again thanks for the info....I cant wait....Nascar 2 and the GN pak
should rock.
