Hi Tom,
I had the same problem. Check your car set. Make sure your "multi"
carset is there. I downloaded Chris Fredericks' wc97 carset which saves
your default carset in another directory while installing itself as the
sole carset. Anyhow, I found that I'd get "failure to init IPX card"
error every time I'd try a multiplayer race. Reloading the default set.
(multi seems to be the one that works) solved the problem.
As a side note , if using Chris' set make sure you go into N2 after
you've installed it and select the carset from the info screen, or else upon
selecting a race you'll be booted out of the program.
