Make sure you use correct syntax in core.ini. There is no message when a
parameter is misspelled. You must use:
[ Communications ]
alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1
When you start GPL by hand, do you see the correct ip address listed under
'Connect via' in the multiplayer? This should show the ip address of your
cable connection.
Does it work when you connect through GSB?

What's GSB?

For an easy recognizable Alfa-Brabham car in replays go here
http://www.fan.net.au/~stevephi/overrev/indivcars.htm
Hi Harjan,
alternate_ip_addr_lookup=1 be sure it is set to 1
o.k now try this
check this in controlpanel-network
click on tcp/ip protocol (make line blue)
choose properties than click tab DNS Configuration
checkmark DNS ON
than fill in at hostbox your IPnr 195.38.xxx.xx
domainbox remains empty
than Searchpriority of DNSserver fill in your primary dns server
194.158.xxx.xx hit ADD
fill in secundary dns server 194.158.xxx.xx hit ADD
The IPnr and DNSservernrs should be provided by your ISP Bart
If at the hostbox it is said "local host" than change it to your IPnr.
Hope this helps

it works just fine now, the host setting at the DNS config did the trick,
thanks a lot, I'll finally be able to do some serious racing now.
Harjan.

Actually I believe 127.0.0.1 is a loopback address, ie. your own machine ...
but that's irrelevant since the orig. guy got it working :)
