F1 2000 A/I cars vanish

by teehol » Tue, 16 Oct 2001 15:38:44

Hello,

 Finally loaded F1-2000 tonight, so far so good. Just 2 questions;

I notice cars ahead of me (pulling away) will suddenly vanish
(completely), and it's abrupt. Not a "crushing problem" really, but
being able to view another car ahead  (even at long distance) helps
driving style, driver aggression, etc.

Is there any setting, that will lengthen (viewable) distance to A/I
cars, before it completely vanishes? Or a setting so they will not
vanish?

(For MP play, this vanishing should be a very useful setting, but for
solo play, I don't see any reason why cars should do this at all).

Also there's some stuttering while driving, not much but noticeable.
With a CL Geforce-2/GTS 64mb, I tried Nvidia 12.90 drivers (updating
from 10.80's), but stutter is still there. Is this a common problem?

 Thanks much!,

 Matt

Sorry about that, I got the Topic -and- the title wrong. I'm asking
about F1 -2001-, not F1k2.

 Thx, Matt

"Braddo" kindly posted THIS in an earlier thread describing the same
problem:

------------------
Thanks to the High Gear forums and Todd Sorenson below here is the fix

Here's what I did (and it worked!):

To get better car detail and to avoid disappearing cars in front when
driving in***pit view, open default.cfg (save folder) with Notepad and
change LODMultiplier in LocalCam=Cockpit section from 1.00 to 3.00 or even
better to 4.00.

This game really is awesome.

Stutter: try bigger vcache settings, for example with Cacheman 5.0

Racecraft answered your question regarding the cars disappearing and
as to any stutter you will have to just lower your graphics selections
lower and/or lower the res. I sometimes notice a slight stutter
somtimes as new objects come into view. Maybe if they had used T&L we
would have gotten better performance. It's not bad as it is, but it
could be better.
