I recently raced a race on Hawaii and wanted to save the replay of the
race.  Before I exited the race I saved the replay and thought
everything was fine.  But when I go to view it, it freezes up on my
machine.  Does anyone know what I did wrong, and has anyone saved hawaii
replays succesfully?

Same thing happened to me. I finished the race and wanted to check out hte
close finish ahead of me and decide to tapeit to watch later so as not to
dilly dally after the race but when I go to watch it I see my car for
about 1 sec then the screen goes grey and the machine crashes.

Been there, done that<g>
Maybe it's a memory problem.  How much (base/extended) memory do you have.
Actually, check your hard drive space.  I just remembered I had problems like
that, and I discovered my HD was full...<BURP!>

Same exact thing has happened to me.  I've tried to save about 6 replays
and a couple of them freeze up with only the sound working.

The "replay bug" started when Papyrus added the .RPX associated file,
that links the saved replay to a file that links the names of the
drivers that were in the saved On-line race.  A quick fix is to upgrade
to 32meg.  Not a great solution but, it worked for me.  I believe it has
something to do with running out of memory space when saving the replay
to the HD.

Since upgrading to 32meg. I have saved all my HAL races that are 18% to
23% in length, from various tracks and have had no problems.

What does Charlie (Hawaii programmer) Heath think of this?

Not the problem, Eldred.  I got 113 megs free HD space..  I would venture
a guess and say it's a .rpx bug on Papyrus' side for us bums who have less
than 32 megs of ram....

Hmm, when did it change?  I've only got 12MB (16 on my other system) and my
replays saved fine...

I'll look into it.  Hadn't seen it, but I've heard of several people having
problems, so I suspect there's something broken.  If the problem is with
the .RPX file, you <might> be able to resolve it by moving the RPX file out
of the track directory; if you do this, you won't have driver names and car
numbers from the multiplayer race, but you might be able to load the
replay.  (I'd be interested in hearing about it if this is indeed the
case).

I have a 24 meg machine on a P-133 and replays save fine, but the
camera jumps from one car to another a lot, the cars disappear and
re-appear, and some cars seem to be accessible for only parts of the
race.

What's going on?

I've got 16 meg and it saves fine expect when playing back files.  Cars
disappear and reappear during replay.

I have NFS and would like to use it without the CD
Is there a way to do this, i have a Syquest 135 drive,
so the space is not a problem.

Thanks
