Leagues are the way to go if your schedule allows for it.  Mine does
not, yet.  So I'm stuck with pick-up races on Sierra.com along with the
occasional special event.  Most late nights you'll catch me out on the
Dega/Tona/Coca-cola circuit.  Need help getting to sleep after a day's
work. <g>

I *thought* that was you!  Didn't wanna ruin your concentration with
stupid questions though. :-P

Not a problem. =p

It was my first race immediately after unwrapping the package.  Took
the pole, hung around 2nd-4th for a few laps, then made a huge
slingshot down the backstretch into first place...into turn
3...overcorrected on the steering...wheels on apron...headfirst into
turn 2 wall...bye bye motor.  At least I got confirmation that the
damage model has been fixed. =)

Ugh.  So busy working on my GPLRank and staying sharp in N4 for OSCAR
I haven't been back on sierra.com with n2k2 since then.  Maybe I'll be
able to squeeze a few hours in this weekend.

But can't you guys see the slower car, too?  Therefore, you should know you're
about to catch him.  If not, that sounds like a GREAT tactic by the leader -
swerve at the last second...eliminate most of the field...cruise to victory.<g>

> But can't you guys see the slower car, too?

Depends on where you are.  If you're right on someone's bumper (as is
often the case at the plate tracks) you can't really see much besides
the car in front of you.  If you're lucky you'll catch the slower car
on a turn.  On the looooong backstretch at Dega good luck knowing
what's going on 2 car lengths in front of you.  You can use F2 but
when you're driving in a pack at 200mph you're often too busy working
the brake and watching the space directly around your car to give the
F2 view a lot of attention.

As far as using that as a strategy goes, try that in a league I'm in
and good luck completing a lap in the next race. =)

You really ought to be able to look through the window of the guy in
front of you and see what is going on ahead.  I do that all the time in
rush hour traffic, makes it a lot easier to get to work quickly without
bumps and scrapes.  ;o)

Huh.  I'll have to try that and see how it goes.  Thanks.

I enjoy seeing anyone running ahead of me in the order stuffing it. ;-)

Seriously, perhaps r.a.s. regular en server host extra-ordinaire Eldred
would care to organise a couple of 200milers for the denizens to flex their
stock car muscles in.

Just a suggestion, seeing as we're nearly out of original GPL tracks to host
GPs at.

Should get my hands on a review copy later this week, if multiplayer is
still noCD, I'd be in business. If not, I'll just have to wait another few
days for a retail copy to be delivered.

Jan.
