GPL Server promblem No Green Button to Race for Clients ??

by Hotd » Sun, 18 Oct 1998 04:00:00

HI can some one help, im trying to get a server set up in NZ to run
some tests, the trouble is once I have the server set up using my
internet dynamic IP (i.e 209.79.136.131) and im at the race screen
where you can see the track in the TV like window, people can connect
to me and get that far, but then they dont get the green button to
proceed to the track, only I (the server) have it and can proceed to
the track. But when I ask a friend to host who im trying to conduct
the tests with, i cam join his game and proceed right to the track

Anyone else haveing this promblem do I need to enable anything in
Netwoking to let other people join me ??

As i posted in my post, I have allready selected the track and move
onto the screen where were looking at the track, the person connected
to me has also moved there and can see the same as me, but im the only
one (host) with a green button in the lower R corner and can click to
go to the car, the client doesnt have a green button at all, it seems
strange that he can get all the way to the last screen, type msgs to
me but cant race ??

the same thing happens to me with one person i race with except that I
am the client who doesn't get the green button.  All  I have to do
though is disconnect from his server and log right back on and the
green button is there for me.
I'm guessing that it has to do with both of us being connected to the
server before practice begins. Once practice has begun, I always get
the the green button
Hope this helps

It's a known bug/limitation.  Simply disconnect and rejoin and the button
will most likely appear on the second attempt.
