NASCAR 3 and SB live problem

I have a small problem. I cannot get the reflections option to be unshaded
so I can select, something other than none. I have a new SB live using the
cd drivers. I want to hear these 3D sounds. Currently I have it set at 16
bit.

You have to have an Aureal chipset for the reflections option.  A Monster
MX300 accerates 3D sound using that chipset.  The Sound Blaster uses another
standard for 3D sound.  N3 was optimized for Aureal.  With that said, I
tried both sound cards.  I went back to the sound blaster and found that the
reflections were not all that good.  With Tom Pabst working on sound sets
for N3, and since his standard is the SB Live, I chose to stay with SB
standard.  To test the different sound cards cost me a 15% restocking fee at
Comp USA so just send me a couple of bucks to save you time and trouble.  I
had a hell of a time getting the MX300 installed properly.

Randy,

<SB Live doesn't support "Reflections". Only Diamond MX300 & the like>

great!, <G> So did I waste my $56 on the SB live? I was really wanting to
hear this killer 3D sound. Rush mentioned that it really wasn't that much of
a difference between the MX 300 and the SB live.

You have to have the MX300 card to get that option

You're still getting 3d posistional sound, just not the added effects
of the reflections.  N3 can use the A3d effect that are in cards based
on the Aureal chipset.(MX300 & Aureal cards)  But the SB Live also can
do 3d using the DX 3d sound in windows.  Both do 3d sounds just the A3d
cards have a few more features.

No, you didn't waste your money, the SB Live is a good card.  You should be
getting 3D sound, the only thing you're missing is reflections.  Also, you
should never take computer advice from Limbaugh, that's not his field of
expertice.

Um.. I have not read anywhere that the 3D sound in N3 was "killer". The
reflections appeared to be simple reverb from what I read.
