TVout and GP3 (2000)

Hello folks,

Has anyone had any success with games like gp3 and using TV out ? I
see the display at the beginning (menus etc). When the actual games
starts the TV picture disappears. Is the game using some kind of
direct draw into memory that is not sent to the tv-out, or some kind
of overlay mode ? It would be nice to race on the TV, occasionally
(between the breaks :-)

thanks Ian.

You have to make sure that you set your resolution to 640x480 or the TV will
not cope (unless it is very new and expensive)

Otherwise, it should work fine.

All the best,

You have to go into the game and select 640x480 or 800x600, as these are the only resolutions that
most tv's support.  Hint:  Bigger doesn't make it better.  My 35" MITS can't hold a candle to my
21"monitor for playing games.

I set the TV output to 720x480, my monitor to 1024x768 and enable auto-panning
for the secondary display (the TV, which has less resolution).
Of course, if I were to tape a video (my TVout goes to the VHS which in turn is
connected to the TV), then I'd have to have both set to the same resolution...

It would help if we knew what kind of video card you were using.

I have had several racing games run on a TV-OUT connection (both d3d and
opengl)- I needed to ensure the resolution was 800x600 and 16 bit (on a TNT2
type card).  If your "in-game" mode is higher res than your "menu-mode", this
might account for it failing when it goes to render the game sequences.

This resolution limit on TV-out is quite common and I think it's due to the TV's
limit, not your card.  The upside is the free FSAA you get from the pixels on a
television.

Sorry, a ridiculous omission on my behalf, it is an Asus V7100/T
AGP. Thanks for Interesting comments below.
