Sound in GPL SB128 PCI

by pcb » Wed, 16 Dec 1998 04:00:00

Hi

I have swapped my isa awe64 for the SB 128 PCI
now I have strange noises when I drive the Lotus ( no probs with the honda )
Sometimes it sounds great and sometimes I get these noises
Mostly in the same turns
Maybe this is a driver thing ( all my other games sounds great )

So ..... HELP !!!!!!

Thanks in advance !!!!!

Sound in GPL SB128 PCI

The drivers for the SB PCI 128 are absolutely horrible.  The card cannot
play sounds recorded at the 8-bit level without producing the scratchy mess
you are hearing right now.  GPL uses 8-bit recordings for several of its key
sounds.

Bug the shit of Creative Labs about fixing this problem (several of us are
also in the process of doing this).  And, no, the recently released Update 1
to the drivers does not fix this problem.  After you have done that (it is
your civic duty), check out the link below. A very generous and talented fan
has created an alternate sound file that fixes the problem for GPL.
