rec.autos.simulators

Just bought a MX300 card, installed it,
downloaded latest drivers, etc.  Somewhere
along the way my computer freaked-out
and locked-up.  I reinstalled the card, drivers, etc.,
but now all my games won't play.  It gives me a
"dos/16m windows driver not installed" message.
I reloaded Win98 to no avail.  When I disable
sound card in device manager the games start
up OK (obviously w/ no sound though).  All other
apps. (Word, Excel, Quickbooks, etc.) work fine,
just the games are "jonesed".  I even removed
the MX300 card and installed my old Yamaha card.
Same results though, games won't start.  Obviously
something (a driver(s)) I assume got corrupted
or wiped out

Any thoughts, advice, suggestions, observations,.....

i had the exact same problem...turns out that my uninstall of the old card
(ensoniq audioPCI) did not remove everything and the system was still
looking for it.

i had to go thru the registry with regedit and remove all occurences of
"eapci" and "ensoniq".  note, however, that if you do this incorrectly you
may***up your system.
