DOS Reactor Drivers

Is there any chance that there will be any DOS drivers for the Reactor?

Is any one else having this problem:  In order to run ICR2 with my Reactor,
I have to load Win95, then restart the computer in MS-DOS mode, then run
ICR2.  If I press F8 at the ' Starting Windows 95 ' prompt, then boot to
the command prompt, all of the graphics I see in ICR2 is about 2 inches of
trash at the top of the screen.  The game is running, but the graphics are
hosed.  I caw / will continue to do this, but it is a real pain.  Any fixes
for this?

Oh yeah, another question:   Ok, when ICR2 does run, I see the Rendition
Ready Logo in color, then it changes to B/W, then I see the text from the
Indyfast batch file, then some garbage is displayed at the top of the
screen,  and then I get the Papyrus start screen. and the programs loads.
What is being displayed on the screen that I am missing?  Just curious.

Robert.

I am also having the same problems. I hope they have a good reply to
this problem. It sure is not working right as far as I'm concerned.

I hope they don't just write it off as an undocumented feature!  :-)

Robert,

I have the EXACT same problem!  I have a case opened with Intergraph, please
call them and open another, I haven't yet heard of a fix, I am glad I am not
the only one having this problem.  Make sure you tell them your CPU/Bios/ and
Chipset specs.

I too have the same problem. I have to load up Win95 first and then
restart in MS-DOS mode to get both INDYFAST.BAT and Quake to run
properly. I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they say...

Same on my machine.  Every time I start ICR2 from Win95(full soft reboot,
its own config.sys & autoexec.bat), instead of the Papyrus screen, I get
a screen with garbage at the top.  The sim runs ok, but I can't see what
is happening.  If I exit the sim, do a 'hardware' reset, then it works
every time.  Something is causing problems when only a soft reboot is
done from Win95.  Still, it's worth it!

Whew!!  And I thought it was just me!  I wonder how many others there are
out there?

Will send the trouble report tomorrow.

Actually, David monitors this SIG.  So,  David, do you have any knowledge
of this?

Actually, the hard reset is only required for running ICR2.  A soft reboot
will be sufficient for Quake.  Also, you must hard reset the machine if you
run Quake first, and then ICR2.

From the content of this thread, I assume everyone who is having trouble
with the Reactor running ICR2 and Quake are at least able to use the
Reactor in Win95.  I haven't even gotten that far yet.  When I initially
installed the card, it appeared to be working fine, but it wouldn't
allow me to change resolution or colors.  It complained about a conflict
with my com2: port.  I disabled the com2: port and it still complained
about conflicts.  Finally I decided to reinstall Win95 with the card
in.  It installed fine but doesn't recognize the car as a Rendition
card.  I have to choose Standand VGA.  When I reload the Rendition
drivers from the disk, it accepts them, then locks up when I restart
Win95.

ICR2 does the same thing you've described, but I never tried running it
after loading Win95.  I figured it was pointless.  I'm calling
Intergraph today.

David,

Try running the attached DMADIAG program from your ICR2 directory before
running INDYFAST. It solved the problem for me and a couple of other
people. Mike Newhall at Papyrus is looking into this.

Didn't do a thing for me, I'm afraid :-(. Still have to run Win95
before ICR2. Weird thing is that DMADIAG reports transfer rates of
70+ MB/s on my P120 using DMA, and that I can run VQuake just fine
directly from DOS without paying a visit to Win95 ... go figure ...

Problems with DOS INDY2 games in DOS.  Try this.

I was having problems with INDY2 also and found out that removing
the UNIVBE drivers from DOS got rid of my big 2 inch band at the
top of the screen.  So try removing UNIVBE driver by going into
setup in DOS and see what happens.

It worked for me with original INDY2 game
