Nascar 2003 crashing

Was wondering if anyone else is having this problem...when I am racing
online, and as you all know papy is all wreckfests, I usually don't Q and
hence, start from the back.Of course there is a wreck going into or in turn
1, and when I get a car spinning in front or spinning up into or down into
me on the track the game crashes. Heck, when I was waiting to pace I moved a
bit and bumped the car in front and the ***y game crashed. Oh, and when I
start the game up again I can reconnect to the same server even though it
(the game ) crashed, and of course by the time I am back in the game I am
generally a few laps down, which doesn't help LPI. Ay help would be much
appreciated.

Thnx

Most likely the game is loading a sound that crashes your system.  Scale
back the sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag.exe and see if that helps.
There used to be a way to cache sound fx...I wonder if anyone here has the
info on that.
