Help! I have just spent several frustrating hours at talladega with my
Indycar. I am using Gerhard's utility . I have tried every setup I can
think of- wings, shocks, tires, roll bars, gearing, etc. and cannot lap
faster than 245.6. The major problem I am having is in turns One and
Two. I think this may be a program bug. In turn one, the car sets in
fine but regardless of line selection spins out about 80% through the
turn. In turn three the car will spin about 20% into the corner. The
only thing that seems to prevent this is not exceeding 237 in turn one
and backing off entering two. I am seeing decent speed on the
straights- 250mph on the short chute and 256 on the long straight.
However the compromise in the corners is killing my lap speed. I have
tried soft shocks, hard shocks, soft bars, hard bars, low to high tire
pressures, etc. It's driving me nuts. I am using Automatic shift, linear
steering with 7 deg.lock, and Manual braking with Spin Control off.
Also, there's a problem getting back on the track after a spin. When
you pull onto the track and begin to accelerate, the car climbs the
banking and becomes stuck nose first at a 45 deg.angle. The only way to
unstick it is to reverse the car down the banking and hope one of the
other cars doesn't nail you on the way down. Initially I thought this
utility was pretty cool but now it's getting very aggravating.
If anyone has had similar problems and/or has solutions, please let me
know, especially Jed at thepits. I could really use some sleep.
Also, for all you ICR cowboys who claim to be running 254+ please send
me a replay so I can see it for myself. Seeing is believing.
