Someone posted a post a few months back on how to turn Talladega into
a track called "DaytonaB" ...can someone repost those hints?

From what I remember, copy all files into a directory called "DaytonaB"
Rename all files from "Talladega.whatever" to "DaytonaB.whatever"
Edit all dat files and txt files to say DaytonaB wherever it says
Talladega.

Is this correct?????

You have to edit the taladega.dat file and replace with daytonab. But
in the text file you want to to put the new track name Daytona
Superspeedway, Daytona Beach, Florida. Also rename the two files as
daytonab.dat or txt. Make sure the new directory has the daytonab name
also. It works, just tried it.

Does it actually drive differently from Talledega or is it the same track with
different names?

Same track, different name.

To save more space, just edit your calendar file. Change DAYTONA with
TALADEGA.

What does this exactly accomplish? Does it somehow transform
Talladega into an accurate representation of Daytona, or just change
the names from Talladega to Daytona?

All it does is put a Daytona Beach selection in the index. It does NOT change
the track. You could have named it Mars if you wanted to. It's easier just to
change the calendar text files.

yes it might work but the track itself wil still be Talladega, wont it?

Your correct. The only thing you really gain is being able to
put Daytona in your calander file. You can also modify some other data in
the new daytonab.txt file to make the AI cars run differently, or the
race length different, etc... But the track is still Talladega. Just
something new to tinker with.
