Psygnosis F1 installation disaster

Psygnosis F1 installation disaster

I made a most disastrous experiment the other day: attempting to install
Psygnosis F1.  This was a major catastrophe; it wrecked the Windows 95
display (giving me something that looked like the refresh rate was
totally wrong) after rebooting; after reinstalling my video card
drivers, the display was still very wrong, displaced to the left; it
took several tries to get it to even be reasonable; finally, I got
nothing on the display but a blank box when I ran it, and the end result
of all this was havoc wreaked in my registry - there was not even a
single software item listed in Add/Remove programs when all this was
over!  I had to go back to registry backup I'd saved before beginning
all this.

The instructions for installation were terrible, and I had to make
several guesses, including what version of 3D drivers, and what version
of certain DirectX drivers.  All in all, it was hopeless!  Boy, I'd sure
like my money back.  Give me DOS games/sims any day!

Can anyone give me some advice as to exactly how to install F1 on a
system with a Sierra Screamin' 3D video card?  Can it actually be done
successfully?

Thanks for any advice.

Well, I installed it with no problems in my system which has a Screamin
3d/Monster 3d combo.  The bad news is you're REALLY going to be po'd when
you find out what a dog it is after it's caused all this trouble.  The best
advice I can give  would be to cut your losses now, take it back and wait
on their (hopefully better) next attempt.  Believe what you've read here
about Psygnosis' F1--it's the truth.

The "DOG" is your video card!!Ive been reading all negative posts on
this group about F1 but since I have a 3dfx and my local EB will let me
return open games I gave it a shot after owning and enjoying the
original Playstation ver.
I installed this game just waiting for all the bugs and installation
nightmares Id been reading about the last month or so and man was I
SHOCKED!!!! The game installed with no problems Looked unbelievable and
was really fast.Ive been playing GP2,NFS2,
and N2 and to me this game blows them all away in all depatrments accept
the sim part, wich is ok with me cause Im more of an arcade guy.Anyway,
if you have a 3dfx card and a store with a good return policy try F1 you
might be suprised.
