> Its not that realistic, its a PSX game
Admittedly, a lot of early PlayStation 'racers' have followed the arcade lead, but as time goes on, the older owners are
demanding something a bit more serious. Whilst we, as the developers, would never claim to be a rival to Geoff Crammond's
level of simulation, we are trying to cater for the more serious audience with a reasonably accurate simulation on the
PlayStation format.
I'm not going to go into details - John Wallace has produced an article about the game's development in his excellent 'Sim
Racing News':

But it will not be a simple arcade racer. It will have two separate
modes (arcade and expert). In Expert mode you will have to deal with
retirements, pit stops/strategies and car realism as opposed to Arcade
mode. The license for this game was too expensive to make it just
another arcade racer Psygnosis told EDGE in one of their interviews.
It won't be delayed for almost a year, will have up to date teams (96)
and runs at 30fps on a relatively cheap machine compared to the P166
you're gonna need to get 30fps on a PC. They both have their pro's and
cons but I don't have to worry about that because I'll get both games
and have a lot of F1 fun this year :)

: ... Granted,
: it will not be as realistic as GP2 which was (is?) in the works for
: two years.
Over three years - Crammond says he started GP2 3 weeks after the F1GP
modem update, which would be April 1993.

Correction; it *is* realistic. Even better, for a "console" game it's damn good.
I had the chance to play the beta (3 lap) version at the Marlboro event during
the Monaco Grand Prix. If it will be released before GP2 I *will* buy a
Playstation.
btw, see also http://www.worldaccess.nl/~mderooy. Consult "history". Personal
review will be available there later on.
