SCGT on Lan.. What's the Max. players possible?

by James Pickar » Mon, 08 Jan 2001 09:43:43

I may be running it at a Lan Race meet soon.  I was wondering if anyone has
had any experience of it..?

Does it run well..?   Any tips for setting it up..?

Thanks..

Hi James,

I only have experience over the internet: Max is 8 drivers.

1) The fastest machine should host.
2) Turn your graphics/resolution down 1 notch on the clients.
3) Racing in the rain causes more warp, but is holy-moly fun!
4) The host should test different data-rates.  The readme said a higher
data-rate isn't necessarily better because it might flood a slower
machine.  I used 4 to 10 with success over the net.
5) Don't use AI cars, but you can try them if you wish after the
"bare-bones" test.

Bare bones test:
640x480, detail low, no mirror, data-rate of 4.  If this doesn't work,
try changing hosts.  If that fails too, you might have to race
heat-style with 4-6 drivers in a race.

Have fun,
Jason.

Over Christmas I had two P3-850s connect via a Linksys cable modem
router playing SCGT at 800*600 with most graphics very high and had NO
trouble with SCGT. I saw absolutly no lag. Now my pedals . . . that is
a different story. Why SCGT has to be so dificult in that matter I
will never know.
