Probably this will sound strange but does somebody knows if there is a
software that emulates or fakes a modem using a simple local area network so
you could emulate a modem communication between two computers via network
(tcp, ipx, ???) ?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Not using a simple lan, no, but there is a unix Shell program which does allow
you simulate a Null Modem Connection over the Internet.

Let me stress: You both need a dial up unix shell account for this to work. A
PPP accoutn and telnet will not.

If anyone wants the url, drop a note, and i'll see if i can drag it up.

I'd like to know how to do this as well. It would really come in handy
for games like CART Racing which only allow modem and direct connect
for multiplayer options. That's one advantage the Mac people have...
they can play ICR 2 on a LAN with Apple Talk. But they will probably
never see GPL on their systems :)

Are you sure? I thought I networked the demo up before.
