My buddy and i want to race some sort of championship online.
We are in different parts of the country, so i guess connection will
be via the internet.
So we want 2 players and the rest of the field made of AI's.
What racingsim will do that?

Your best bet is rFactor.

A GT kind of car. I find open wheelers a bit too sensitive.
Have been playing GTR a lot.
The most important thing is to be able to play a couple of
humans against a field of computer controlled cars.

My sons and I race NASCAR 2003.  We wish that GTR and GTR Legends would
allow AI cars on track.  I was wondering if Flatout allowed AI cars while
racing via a LAN.

You could add the Mod to NR2003 for the Road Cars.  Damned if I don't forget
the name of it at the moment.

GTP. http://redlinedevelopments.com. To make this work you'll need to do
a second install of NR2003 so you don't over-write the other sounds.
(you can drag a copy to a new folder) http://mnrlonline.com has very
well organized GTP leagues.

Yeah, that's it.

I actually liked the new sounds in GTP better :)

Thanks, but Nascar are too many left turns and too few rights ;)
Wonder if GTR2 will support AI cars when racing via LAN...
Anyway, i just purchased rFactor, and i think it does the job.
Pretty well too. With a lot of mods of course...

Marni,

15 minutes at 2 sites (then hours downloading) will produce like near 200
tracks you can get for the game including some decen road courses...

http://www.raceservers.net/Software_Downloads.htm  for one.
http://www.simracingconnection.com/nascar/n2k3tracks.shtml  for a pretty
complete list...

Ok thanks.......
Im a little confused about the Nascar tittles;
Nascar Simracing by EA is the newest and prettiest of the Nascar games,
but Nascar 2003 Season by Papyrus are considered to be the best... Right?

Marni.

Yes,  for Nascar type racing there is very little comparision.  For non
oval type racing,  there are other titles that may be more beneficial,
although there are several good mods for Nr2k3.  But if strict oval Nextel
cup racing is your passion,  then nr2k3 trumps NSR.

Yes, the EA version has little quirks, like no mirrors at all, for one
thing.

By a long shot NR2003 is better.  Nascar Sim Racing was dead within 2 weeks
of release.  Promised patches never arrived, the pre-sale hype never
accomplished.

What was so disappointing about NSR was it was NOT SUPPOSSED to suck like
EA's previous attempts.  All the pre-sales hype trumped it up to be the next
coming of sim racing.

It isn't even close.
