Will NR2002 Have The OpenGL Renderer?

by Jenera » Mon, 07 Jan 2002 16:26:42

The reason I ask is in Nascar 4, with my GF2 GTS, I get approx. a 10-20FPS
boost as opposed to using the D3D T&L. I did this test to compare how the
D3D T&L performance was vs. NR2002. The surprising thing was that N4 and
NR2002 perform almost identically on my system when using D3D. On a side
note, I also think the OpenGL has a nicer look.

With all details set to max except mirrors to medium detail and 70% view
ahead. 1024x768x32. No Vsync. :

Atlanta back of the field. 20 cars. No steering wheel drawn. MSFF USB wheel
with FF enabled.

N4 D3D T&L    ~26fps
NR2002 D3D T&L    ~25fps
N4 OpenGL    ~35fps (With Specular Highlights Enabled)
N4 OpenGL     ~45fps (No Specular Highlights - This option doesn't exist in
Direct3D)

My system:
AMD 1700+
SIS735 w 512DDR
32MB GF2 GTS 23.11 drivers
Windows 2000 SP2
Directx 8.1
