N4-Lowes Driving Advice

N4-Lowes Driving Advice

I am really struggling to find a good line to drive on the Lowes track in
N4. I have tried watching the AI, but this doesn't help.

Do I use the brake before the corners, or am I trying to take these corners
by simply using the banking to slow me down before the turn. If I use the
latter approach I usually end up colliding with the barrier, but using the
former costs me precious seconds against the AI (I do not play Online).

Any help appreciated.

I've also found Lowe's surprisingly difficult compared to the other tracks.
You need to lightly trail brake into the corner, then floor it when you hit
the apex.  The problem I have is with the line - you need to get as close to
the apron as possible, without touching it.  If you touch it, you're in the
wall because of it's harsh reverse banking.  You can actually go into one of
the corners quite fast because the corner exit is steeply banked.  But if
you***up the line - you're toast.

Never use the AI for a driving guide. Try Team Lightspeeds awesome track
guide at
http://www.sportplanet.com/team-lightspeed/b_stanley/track_guides/Low...
s_trackguide.shtml. Also, if you go into the replay section in N4 there
should be a replay of an actual human doing a lap around Lowes.

try COASTING into the first turn...lift gently off the accellerator just
before the turn begins...This will scrub off enough speed so that you don't
go climbing the banking up to the wall...also try and enter the corner
somewhat high...you probably don't want to be down near the line for turn
one until your already accelerating again.
Turn 3 'may' need just the tinyest tap of the brake to settle the car but
really, thats about all you should need.

Wow Dave, maybe it's my setup but I am finding just the opposite. I don't
carry as much speed on the back straight (it's shorter) so I don't have to
tap the brakes going into turn 3 but I am going that much faster on the
front straight that I have to "settle" the car before entering turn 1.
What'ya think... is it driving styles that is the diff. or is it a setup
thing?

hehe Robin I was tempted to put my standard warning with my
advice....something to the effect of:
Warning!  These driver tips come from one of the worst sim-racers on the
planet...your mileage may vary.

See, that's probably what I should have done as well, looks like we have a
thread here that should have been entitled "Advice from the Sim-racing
challenged.". In case you haven't noticed my post in another thread to
Eldred about my PB at LeMans... it's one of the few laps I managed not to
spin so by default it becomes my personal best lap time. (shrug) I have a
feeling that there isn't enough hours in the day for me to get anywhere near
the hot shoes in either N4 or GPL.

Sure Dave... I'm Still Struggling to break 1:10 at Watkins Glen in GPL...
let alone turn consistent laps below 1:13-1:14...

and how long have I been driving sims... since stinking Indycar 1 came out.
I'm never going to escape being one of the sim challenged. :) or maybe a
( not sure yet.

I need a hug.
