RASCAR: Hey Tom Pabst

by John Simmon » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 05:07:49

I know - I just wanted to make sure everyone knew I didn't just shoot
thru the loop without slowing down.  I was in a pickup race just prior
to the Rascar event, and I came in 2nd.  In the Rascar race, I screwed
the inner loop entrance twice in a row, so I just quit. :)

It's just the way you put it Tom.

I wasn't trying to dig on you Tom (if I was, you'd most certainly know
it).

I thought my message was quite tame compared to some of the shit I post
here. :)

I honesty wasn't trying to make you mad or start an argument.

> B.  I'm not being "hard" on anyone.

Yes you were.  You were arrogant, and elitist (as usual).  Look, just before
the race around 4pm I went to the racesimcentral site to download the newest
cars for the race.  I saw yours.  I decided not to race, and mentally told
myself "Oh great.  Five bucks he's going to whine on the newsgroup about the
driver's skills and blahblahblah".

You obviously have some intelligence no?  You should had known that RASCAR
is a league for anybody here on r.a.s., regardless of their skills.

It's entirely your fault.

<snippage of arrogance>

Again, started by you.

That kinda added to the fun and difficulty challenged by a pass in the

RASCAR: Hey Tom Pabst

Frances...

I didn't "whine" about anything....nor did I make a post complaining about
the driver's skills.  There was a fair amount of discussion in here.....and
before the race on Saturday about making the races "by invitation
only"....so they could attempt to put the experienced drivers
together....and the novices together (at least, that's what I assumed "by
invitation only" meant).  I didn't know if that had happened or not.....and
when I got to the RASCAR race server on Saturday.....there was a lot of
discussion about this with about half the guys for it......half against (it
seemed to me).  Since I had already block off the time and was prepared to
race for an hour or two yesterday.....I decided to run the RASCAR race.
What happened was exactly what I expected...and I was neither mad about it,
nor did I single out anyone here for some of the dumb stuff I saw.  I didn't
even care about it.  I figured I'd either be lucky and avoid some of the
novice mistakes....or not, it didn't matter to me at all and I had fun for
as long as my car was runnable.

My "post reply" to John was almost an extension of my comments on Saturday
in chat......I am for making the races "invite only"......and that post was
almost a reminder to John that he could leave the #77 slot open if the
RASCAR events were not going to be invitation only....I wouldn't run because
of the Saturday time slot.  Then.....a few guys start insinuating that I am
an "elitist"....and that's ***and you know it Francis!

By the way, are you trying to take over for David Powell or something?
......lol....

RASCAR: Hey Tom Pabst

by Ian » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 05:22:54

The way I see it, RASCAR is for any driver who frequents ras.

I have no objections at all however, to an invite list, but IMO it should
only restrict people who are obvious wreckers, not anyone who simply isn't
up to speed. Maybe an uninvite list ?

I don't see RASCAR as a racing league, rather as a racing club where we get
(more or less) a friendly group of racers meeting up once a week to have
fun.

Personally, I would like to see some basic guidelines on what is acceptable
behaviour and obviously what isn't, but to exclude people for not being good
enough is not what I see the spirit of  RASCAR as being.

I can see Tom's point of view, that he wants good quality racing with people
of a similar skill level in his spare time. May I humbly suggest that RASCAR
really isn't what he's looking for because, by it's nature, it will have a
very wide range of driver skills.

I like RASCAR for several reasons, mainly because I don't have much time to
practice and develop setups for each track so the fixed setup racing helps
me be competitive and I don't have to make each race because there is no
points scoring. ( I didn't have time for practice before yesterdays race,
but I joined because I knew I could run a reasonable lap at WG. Of course, I
wouldn't join a track I didn't know without at least a little offline
practice)

Lee: As far as I'm concerned, you are very welcome in RASCAR (though I have
no official capacity)
I only have objections to intentional wreckers, which you obviously are not.

I seem to remember following a certain someone when on lap 4 they had some
"trouble" at the inner loop and I went right on by. They missed their apex
by more than a foot or two and dropped more than one wheel into the grass
:-)

Sorry John.....after all this "David Powell" crap....I'm a little sensitive
to all this "elitist" crap.  I was a little pissed off about what I took
from your post as being in that line of thought (elitist).  I was actually
surprised that you dropped out.......but I didn't know about your brain fade
with the IL.  I've done that before many times....usually during practice.
I just shut down and go get my head together....or stop racing (as you did).

Whether you intended to make me mad or not isn't the issue.....you did.
And, that's 50% my fault.  Sorry.  As far as I'm concerned, you just
apologized below for your 50% share.  No harm....no foul!  ....lol....

Regards,

Tom

> Frances...

Call me by my name.

No, I said you were arrogant and elitist.  Can you read?

FFS, you said they shouldn't be worth racing online.

Just shut up and move to your "superior" things.  Let us inferior drivers
race in RASCAR the way we do and want.  I for one don't want to race the way
you want, Mr. Pabst.

I am not.

Shut up Tom, you continue and still continue after all those years to only
be a low-level troll.

You have the right.  Obviously, RASCAR is not made for you.

Again, RASCAR is not made for you.

Again, RASCAR is not made for you.

You should had known that RASCAR races are made for everybody to enter,
regardless of their skills.  You aren't that dumb, no?

Again, call me by my ***ing full name.

I'm saying the truth.  You have nothing to counter-argument, and it shows.

You are a trouble-magnet.
