EBWorld is now saying 11/30; Sierra's site says 11/15.

Because it's not out yet
Funny thing is when GPL was coming out it was daily calls to sierra and eb and
etc.etc.
I'm not callin this time, i'll drive the 45 minutes each way to get NL .

Oh, I am just a little too greedy. I am still practising GPL for 3 weeks, and just feel confident to go to Advanced Training in Monza.
Griffin.
If you haven't been in the GP cars yet in GPL, you are in for a big
surprise. I've had it since it came out and I still consider it a small
miracle if I can finish a short race without the car going off the track
somewhere.
I have to say this... Since GPL, everything else is just a game.
and just feel confident to go to Advanced Training in Monza.
Will keep trying.
Griffin.
: I believe it will be based on the N3 (N2/99) engine.

Try the GP again, and do not drive on the weak machines. If changing
from Beginner to Advanced to GP you always have to learn for new. It
would be better to start with the heavy version (GP without any help).
In the beginning you have to concentrate on one track (Monza I took)
and to drive carefully for the first 20 or 50 rounds. In Monza I had
to train over 50 rounds to make 10 rounds following without leaving
the track and with times around 1:33. And I'm glad to be 3 seconds
near to Jim Clark. It's curious, but GPL is the only racesim, where I
*must* not reach the top. I'm jut satisfied, when I stand a race in
Monza over 17 rounds and seeing the flag on 11th position (I had not
reached yet, I always kiss the grass in the first rounds, or Surtess
kicks me off before Parabolica).
Try it, Griffin, and you get it earlier or later. Don't loose hope.

Yup, agreed :) I practiced for hours upon hours, race after race,
crash after crash, off after off, at Spa in a Ferrari. The first time
I ever finished a race I was so happy it was absurd :) The first time
I ever finished on the podium at a race, I was dancing around the house!
It takes mucho practice, but the reward is that much greater. Like
Dean said ealier in this thread... after GPL, the rest are just games.
To finish a competitive race without going off is, in and of itself, a
significant accomplishment (for me).
Now if I could just figure out that dang Nurburgring... DOH!!

Agreed. I just jumped into the GPL fray about a month ago, and only get
to work at in on weekends (damn PhD keeps getting in the way). I've
concentrated on only two tracks (the Glen and Spa) with occasional
training trips to the 'Ring just for fun. The first time I even finished
a race at Spa I was smiles from ear to ear. Spinning off a corner in the
middle of a good battle left me cursing and pounding the desk. Some
successful passing moves were the most immensely satisfying moments I've
had in sim racing. Last night I was 6th going through Blanchimont on the
last lap of an intermediate race. I had somehow done everything right;
not put a wheel wrong, kept my cool, and I was even in over my head,
turning laps better than my grid placing should allow me. It must have
been that rhythm thing. But then the red mist kicked in. I had been
trailing an Eagle all the way from Stavelot, slowly reeling him in. The
brain kept saying "it's too late, settle for the points", but the mist
obscured all reason and I hit the brakes way too late for La Source (hell,
you can get away with it in GP2, right?). Locked 'em. Backed out a
little, then back on them. Locked again, sailing past the Eagle, which
has been forced to straight line it as well. I bounce off the hay bales,
and he's looking pretty rough as well. My front left A-arm is history as
I grind the gears trying to get the three-wheeled monster across the line
before he can. I'm almost there, wheel flailing in the air, when I feed
in just a little too much throttle. The unweighted right rear goes up in
smoke, around I go, and sit helplessly on the curb as half a dozen cars
stream past me before I can back across the line. Shit shit shit. Oh
well, serves me right for such a boneheaded desperation pass, but truly no
other sim racing game can do this to you.

Did you save the replay. If you did post the last couple of laps
on alt.binaries.simulators.autos , or e-mail it to me,
I'd love to see it.
